Caravan of Courage / Part 2 – Day 40 – Tue 26th Nov / Shark Bay Fishing Charter

6.30am – Up early so Tanya can hitch a ride with Kelly to Monkey Mia to sus out the dolphin feeding.

7.30am – head down to jetty to meet the fishing boat captain. Tells us it’s a good day with little wind and the half day tour was going to take 2 hours longer to get to better fishing spots. We all agree and grab takeaway lunch from the bakery. Then the skipper takes all our phones and puts them in a lead linned box to protect his fishing spots!

9.15am – were at the 1st spot and our baits cant even touch the bottom! BANG. Everyone is on. I pull in the 1st fish, a shy 65cm mulloway while everyone else starts to pull theres in to. Its a smorgasbord. Giant snapper, mulloway, pinkies, cod…..

Goes quiet after 20 minutes of madness so we move on.

Spot after spot we keep catching everytime but no where near as mad as the 1st spot.

By 12.30pm we’re starting to head back the way we came and all ask for another go at the 1st spot so the skipper agrees.

BANG this time were all onto Monsters. 2 massive Mullow come aboard. 1 at 92cm and another over a meter. Its an adrenalin rush.

By the time we leave the giant ESKY is full.

2.30pm – slight detour to look at dugongs.

3pm – arrive back at the jetty in Denham.

5pm – we finish cleaning and skinning the fish.

6pm – Jenny cocks up a feast.

7.30pm – kids in bed

8pm – Rummikub is on again.

10.30 – Out
