Caravan of Courage / Part 2 – Day 51 – Mon 9th Dec / The Lobster Shack & The Pinnacles

6am – I’m up pottering around. Getting excited about eating lobster for Lunch.

10am – hit the road for Cervantes. Its only half an hour away.

10.30 – check out thirsty point. Shack isn’t open yet.

11am – Lobster Shack is open. Theres a kids play ground with a jumping castle so the kids are having a blast. We order early as there are tour busses on the way. $88 for the lucky day special. 8 x oysters 8 x prawns and a whole Cray served cold. Its a dish made for the hundreds of thousands of Asian visitors they recieve a year. Luck number 8! I order the boys a half cooked lobster with fish, calamari and chips for $60. It comes out in 10 minutes from order. This place is a machine. Ive been told to avoid weekends as its a packed out made house.

1pm – on the way out we decided to do the factory tour as there is no line of people. It was very interesting. Most of our big grade F live lobsters are shipped to China or Dubai. The lobster can last 30 hours in a box with ice and pine wood shavings. Its a massive operation. Read more below.

On the way out I see a service station that serves lobster while you fill up. Cervantes is a seriouse western rock lobster town.

2pm – were at the pinnacles. Scientists still cant agree onnhow these things were formed. Possible fossilised tree trucks burried and un burried over time.

5pm – were back and I cook up another beef stir fry. Yum.

7pm – movie night. Karate Kid (again).
