Caravan of Courage / Part 2 – Day 52 – Tue 10th Dec / Sea Lions and Sandy Cape

5am- I’m awake. Stressing we’ll miss the boat.

6am – wake the family

7am – down to the marina

7.30am – were powering out to a small island in a great boat with twin 300’s. Crew is realy nice. Local skipper and 2 young imports probably on a work visa.

We get to the island and spot the sea lions. I’m itching to get in a push my way to the front. Straight away I dive down and head for the action but it comes straight to me. These pups as so playfull they love anyone who dives down and rolls around. This is AWSUM. I get an enquires from the big bull male and before I know it I’ve been swimming with the lions for 1.5 hours. This is truly a MASSIVE HIGHLIGHT and on par with swimming with Manta Rays.

9.15am – skipper takes us on an island tour on the way back. We look at reefs with under water pinnacles along with ????? Birds.

10am – breakfast at the jetty

11.30am – We head for Sandy Cape to go sandboarding. Were greeted by the very frienfly lady who hires us the gear to return on our own as the camp hosts have had a family emergency back in Melbourne. This place is heaven. If we come back we deffinatly came here. Just bring power and water. same as Osprey Bay. Its beautiful and another MASSIVE HIGHLIGHT. Dunes, reef, views and protected from the winds. We play, sand board, snorkel and hike. Such an amazing way to finish our trip in the caravan.

I catch some serious speed on my last run and land on my wrist. Pack up and driving tomorrow won’t be fun.

3.30 – head back to Jurien Bay. Late lunch pizza along with some chilln.

6pm – left overs for dinner

7pm – karate kid 2!

What an amazing day! Love WA.
