DAY 13 – Yu La Ra – Tue 31 July

Wake up at voyages thinking this caravan is too comfortable.
Forgot where I was!

went out to the caravan made coffees and then got stuck into an amazing buffet breakfast. Bush omelet is great.

Packed a quick hike kit and head off to the Uluru National Park

The Aboriginal community that lease there property back to the government (handed back 30 years ago before Mabo decission) and managed in conjunction with the national parks. I hope the money goes to a cause chasing Aboriginal equality.

So we do the olgas First and they are amazing

I teach jett about honor and respect. Doesnt kick on.

quiet walk through the gorge. (With echoes of my kids crying) sorry to other visotors.

These Rocks are enormous

Where’s Wally? My kids ! have a close-up look at the scale of these Rocks it’s overwhelming

hte furniture in the shaded areas is hand made of Fallen wood and something I want in my lounge room…. beautiful

Now we’re off to Uluru or as I now know it as ‘yu la ra’.

Words can’t describe how amazing this rock is. We teach the boys respect and honour. AGAIN.

The bus loads of tourists ignored the requests from the local Aboriginals not to climb the rock with a continual trail of people in white gloves climbing the unsafe steep Ascent and descent.

There has been 36 deaths since they started climbing this rock . that’s 2 per year!

With respect to the local owners we walk around which is amazing. every corner you turn the rock changes colour and formation with different sounds and appearance.

I

I see craters, caverns and caves and wonder if this thing is actually Hollow?

We make a return trip and pay our respects

and head back to the resort where I Spy the one and only indigenous man allowed into the voyages Resort.

He looks cool and so I go and chat with him

who would have known I just met the last traditional owner of Uluru.

He keeps showing me his ID because we were having trouble to communicate. Softly spoken its Cassidy Uluru! the last family member of the Uluru family that found Uluru (Ayers Rock).

He’s welcome in here as hes a tribal elder and owner of the land but every tourist avoids him. so i best friend him and proceed to get him drunk! a traditional elder of this spiritual place needs a bit of Collingwood love.

Great to meet you Cassidy.

Thank you.
