DAY 15 – Kings Canyon / Rim walk – Fri 03 Aug

Still excited from what ive heard i wake up early and get ready for my hiking adventure.

Jett and I are on the road by 8:30 a.m.

We beat the tour buses and hit the steep climb before any of the tourists and have the canyons to ourselves. WOW.

So we start with a steep ascent. Legs burning we make it to the top. Looking out to the rangers is breathtaking.

Then we climbed through a gorge and pop out on a rock landscape. This is Amazing.

Danger approaching.

Continuing on we start to find the cliff edges that look across the canyon. Scary but exhilarating.

Head in land again across a prehistoric lake and start to walk down an amazing staircase to the garden of eden.

I can’t believe how differant the changes in landscape are. The bridge across gives you a bird eye view of the garden of eden.

We climbed out and over another bridge and find a special place for a rest and morning tea.

Now were on the other side of the canyon looking back at an amazing sheer cliff. I crawl to the edge for a photo and my keys fall out of the camera bag. Caught em!

Scary but amazing watching people on the otherside just a meter from the edge.

Head inland again and stop for a sugar hit.

We get back to the information station in 2.5 hours.

Then head back to relieve Tan and let her do the walk in piece.

Tan takes the camera and we swap lenses. Her photos are awsum and the rocks have changed colour from morning pink to afternoon red.

Tan takes the turn and goes to the lagoon at the far end of the garden of eden.

Returning here I would take a powered spot at the far end of the caravan park looking out at the canyon near the electric Barbies. Spent 3 nights and do as many hikes as possible.

This has by far been the highlight of the trip for me so far.

Cheers.
