DAY 03 – Warrnambool to Robe- Sat 20 July

Sailing on the seas ain’t like sailing on the highway. 300kms in cross winds = 80kms per hour MaX!.

Took a lunch break a couple km’s off the highway at fort o hare
.

Found a 300 year old gum tree. As Tan likes me to say ‘a tree of significance’. Very wet with fresh springs of grass popping up everywhere

Then after 6 hours we arrived in long gully. Dirt road and completely remote I made the wind swept trip safe and we had arrived alive.

Too a camp kept by wombats.

This was to be our 1st night of self sufficient camping. So I grabbed out the equipment and got to work. Cut wet wood then climbed down a line stone cliff. What a great night it was. Had myself a little private deano party by the fire (naturally!).

Woke to a refreshing Frost with fresh winds that gave me some slight concern.

Discovered we had used all the water and scrounged enough for coffee.

A quick hike to the top of the dunes to see the limes stone cost then we hit the road.

Short stop in port fairy to check the restaurant we designed but didn’t supply then out to the entrance. This looks more treruace than lakes entrance. Then we push on..

WOW how I love to hate the winds on the highway. Slowed me to 80 – max 90kms again. Another 350kms that took 6 hours of death wobbles and stressful concentration.

Leo’s 1st experience on a thunder box and town had lots of tree trunk carvings.

Leo’s pisss stops are epic!
