5.30am – Were up. You can’t drink the water but the kettle is full so we give the instant coffee a shot.
6.05am – on the road and its still very dark. See a tray truck passing by so we decide to tuck in behind and call it the ‘roo plough’.
6.15am – Truck gets on the anchors and sideways. 1st near miss.
6.35am – Rooicide! Bang he hits one dead center and it expoldes then goes under the truck. THANK GOD we backed the ‘roo plough’. Doing that again tomorrow.
12.05pm – Erldunda. Perfect timing. Bar just opened. Quick sandwich and a cold pot then pon the road again.
2pm – Back in Alice springs. Bunnings, Camp supplies and Tjanpi again. Were off.
4pm – We arrive in Ti Tree and book into a tinny Bunga. Adam gives Lady Simba some Love and affection.
Start chatting with the other hwy men. Find a bikie that tells us bitter springs has been burnt out! No No No. And it happened last Thursday (Day 09), spooky.
Change plans for tomorrow. Katherine instead of Materanka.
6pm – Tbone veg and mash with mushroom sauce. 10/10. Yum
8pm – chatting with hwy men. More stories about the rains up north and how vegetation beside the hwy is so fresh and green and animals are there all day. No more galloping for lady Simba 🤕
