Caravan of Courage / Part 3 – Day 11 – 9th April 2021 / Mammoth Cave

It’s another windy cool day so we’re thinking something indoors or underground. Park reception advises Mammoth cave which is self guided so we pack the car and hit the road.

A quick stop at MR to visit my favourite butcher and grab some more bagget. I pick up 4 Wagu patties for burgers tonight.

Squeeze in a quick.tasting at Xanadu and pick up a 6 case and were off again.

We have an early picnic lunch before we head into the cave which turns out in our favour as almost everyone leaves for lunch when we head in. We almost have the cave to ourselves. it realy is Mammoth. Huge open caverns where you can see hole rock walls that have become landslides. The bones turn back time. Actually megaforna fully intact on the cave floor. When you take your headphones off and hear nothing you realy feel the caves strength and history. Self guided tour’s are the best!

Now I try to find an unsealed bush track through the forest. The GPS is going all over the place so I go it solo. We end up in a bunch of camp only sites (no caravans allowed) and push forward towards a beach Cove. Spontaneous dissembark and were on a very random and secluded beach. I do a fly around the check the aquatic scene then have a dip. Love it!

Back at camp the kids get set up for another moon light cinema and and cook up one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! Loving the MR butchers specials.

Backgammon OUT.
