Caravan of Courage / Part 3 – Day 13 – 11th April 2021 / Cyclone Seroja

As predicted the rain hits and comes down hard. It’s here to stay. So after breakfast I hit a few more vineyards on my own while Tan and the kids play UNO.

At Cape mentell we talk about demolishing a grape vine and starting again. It’s a 10 – 12 year process before you get a yield. Then I get a hot tip for a restaurant for lunch that won’t be booked out called flutes. I call and make a booking.

On the way to flutes we stop at Vasse Felix. It’s busy and I discover this is Margaret Rivers 1st winery. Natural I get carried away and become a member.

We arrive at flutes and study the menu. The food sounds amazing. We skip the set menu and go allacart. Jetts rocket salad has the most amazing dressing. It’s got pear and vinegret I think so we start to hassle the waiter for the recipe. NOT A CHANCE. We get one hot tip, it’s got Mabel.syrup in it. The mains come out and I’m blown away. This is great food.

After lunch we head back to the van to hide from the heavy rain. The roads are rivers and turning to mud slides.

Tuna melts for dinner and big hero 6 for a movie night.
