Caravan of Courage / Part 3 – Day 15 – 13th April 2021 / Fishing wilsons inlet

Another slow start in the constant rain. Ive been up and down all night. The near gale wind has been rocking and rolling the van all night while lashing the awning like a Rolf Harris wobble board.

I head into town to get phone and internet reception to have my weekly catch up with the Darkon crew. Everything is full steam ahead in the new HQ back in broadmedows with the steel for the mezzanine going up fast. We decide to take advantage of a state government grant for innovative technology and move our product builder to the cloud. Keeps me busy with consultants for a few hours and I commit to a lighting design for under the mezzanine by COB Thursday.

I get back and do a BBQ for lunch that has a fat fire and smokes out half the caravan park.

As the rain starts to ease we attempt a fishing expedition at the inlet nearby. We launch the bait traps and race back into town to buy some bait. It’s on. Baits getting smashed as soon as they hit the water. The inlet is closed to the ocean at the moment and you can clearly see schools of large fish cruzing past. I’m drop fish on every bite and decide my very old Nungurner hooks need replacing then bang im in straight away. A nice fight with a small trevaly that cost me a beer when I land it. Jetts hits my spot from the other side of the inlet and keeps hooking up but getting snagged on the rocks the fish hide under when they dart back to safety. We deplet the bait and head back but leave the traps in over night. I don’t have my hopes up as I haven’t seen anything small in here. It’s probably all been eaten by the predators that are trapped in here. Mullet, snapper and trevaly.

For dinner were back on the MR butchers marinated steak wraps. it starts to rain again so we have another movie night in the van with the heating cranking. We love our van. Daisy the Discoverer.
