Caravan of Courage / Part 3 – Day 24 – 22nd April 2021 / Cape Arid

There’s a fine misty rain comming down so we decide to go for a drive. Cape Arid is about 110kms and sounds pristine so I make a picnic lunch and hit the road.

In typical WA style the road to Cape Arid is closed and there is a 35km detour on unsealed road. I’m not happy but do it anyway because I’m busting to try out the defender on the beach sand.

We arrive and I let the air out of the Tyers so we can go find a remote beach location for lunch. What do you know BEACH ACCESS CLOSED! And the ranger is here with her kids for a swim.

We find a nice picnic table on a lookout instead and have a lovely lunch in mild 21degress and light wind. Jett is desperate to go in the surf but the 5 meter swell is here and waves are crashing hard on the beach so I decide to takes us back a bit closer to home. I saw truck on the beach opposite the boat ramp yesterday so I head that way.

Thankfully this is open but the sand is super soft at the top of the beach and high tides is almost here. The kids play for a bit and we face time Leo Chew for his birthday. Then we come around the creek side and let them run wild.

We try Cod and Queen snapper for dinner.. wow it’s good fish, flowered and pan fried. I cryvac the rest for freezing.
