DAY 14 – the calm before the STORM

Today was going to be our hiking day out around kings canyon. Woke to warm fresh air and no wind. Unfortunately the resort has no phone or 4G reception and my satellite device is only giving me emergency mobile phone or sms so i couldn’t check the weather. Turns out another goal force winds and storm is approaching which we are un aware of so we head out to explore..

We do one short walk with leo’s meltdowns and and get back in the car and head for the camel station. Trees are amazing.

And the rocks.

When we arrived we’re told they only herd the wild camels once a year so we go for an aboriginal tour across the road instead

Turns out this has set times which we arn right the middle of. No luck here either.

It starts BLOWING really really bad so we head for katherine springs walk hoping it will be sheltered. It sort of is slightly sheltered is so we press on through to a beautiful gorge in gail force winds.Jett decides to run back to the car. I rush back to find Jett at the car and see a dust storm in the distance. Now im Realy worried about the awning on the caravan and wait anxiously for Tan and Leo to make it back. QUICK!

We get back and there’s trees down all over the place i look to the park and see our caravan and the awnings is gone!. i’m freaking out.

I race to the van and yes the awning is gone but only because someone has put it away for us. Thank GOD.

I meet 2 old ladies who said it took four of us to do it and described how it ‘was almost half way wrapped around your Van’. Love seasoned Caravaners.

Thank you.

Windows were open so we start to clean the dust off !

Then jett has an accident with the milk in the car.

More cleaning, some spider man and off to bed.

I am excited about doing the Rim walk tomorrow morning that I missed out on today.

Bed time. What a day!!!!
