December 2022 – WHAT A YEAR !

Jett does work experience at DARKON
Radford hooks me up with a 3000w inverter and shore charging for the boat as Moose Marine lets me down yet again
We take Tanya to Din-Tai-Fung for her birthday dinner (Leo loves the robot waiters)
Tanya turns 44 years old and we go for a walk down the Yarra to see the after match off the Victorian flooding. There is debris 5 meters up above the walking track.
Leo starts drumming and is a natural
I hear a massive V8 pull into the servo and go and investigate. Its from the original Mad Max 3 movie.
Hugo starts copying his brother Jett and start playing basketball.
We take a dip with Doug and Jane, and I pick up my copy of Laminated Denim
I remove all of Dads old furniture from Avoca in anticipation of settlement. Shane and I say our good buys and he hits the road for East Gippsland. Sets up his swag under the porch at Bells Track for a week!
Tan and I go to watch Leo in his Christmas school musical
I start cutting holes in Dock Tease ready for 240volt power
Jacqui puts our caravan on the market.
I take Radford, Pauly and Matty on a management meeting in the boat in extreme weather.
Rick makes me another stone bollard
I prove Miele wrong. Its not my Pan it’s the bridging function of the induction cook top!
I do the epic pot and plant removal from Keele St on my own while Jett watches from his room. Hugo loves crawling on the original grass hedge.
Adam and I go shopping for speakers at Audio influence on my birthday. I drop $8k on a brand-new pair of JBL L100 classic speakers (thanks DAD).
Paul, Adz, Justin, Doug, Jane and I hit King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard at the Palace foreshore with a quick detour to the St Kilda bowls club. I jump in the mosh pit with Doug. Amazing night. Loved it. 45 years old and still moshing.
Jett and Patrick start an epic weeding contract at DARKON in the pouring rain.
We go to Jim’s Greek Tavern for my birthday dinner.
KK at Darkon followed by an epic Christmas Party at the coppers inn.
I buy another drum kit with Mark for practice at Waterloo.
Leo helps out at Darkon on a Sunday sheeting the Light tray room in ply wood and Pauls Cat get stuck in the wall again.
Gonio room is handed over
Jett and I do a father son bonding week in Nungurner with fishing and camping down Bunga Arm. The dolphins scare the shit out of me while cooking breakfast on the boat (they pop up right next to me).
Justin, Patrick, Claire, and Declan drop in for a jamb session on our last night in Nungurner. Its Claires 9^th birthday. Naturally there are heaps of dramas to keep us all entertained including a rollerblading accident in Rosedale on the way home the next day!
I pick up some loan speakers (L100’s) and impulse buy a JBL SA750 amp to drive the new speakers.
I try a 4:30am arrival at the market for seafood on Christmas eve and its already busy. We have our traditional Christmas eve dinner at Keele then presents on Christmas day morning. I have a late night with Paul at Waterloo and don’t get back till 2am and the kids get me up at 6am for presents. OOOF.
Christmas Day lunch at Janes house with Tanya’s family. Yea Yeah is there and it’s a great day in the spa and pool. Unfortunately it’s a COVID super spreading event, but the Phillips family is spared.
Boxing day sales, test cricket and chilling with my babies
Pack the car on the 27^th and hit the road early for Holidays in East Gippsland.
There is a Jetty Jamb and I have no swing mooring on the Nungurner foreshore.
I get the GPS location of my lost mooring and go for a dive to try and find it. No luck its like swimming in soup down there. Couldn’t even see my hand in front of my face.
Radford helps me set up the JBL SA750 ready for new years eve. Dan invites us to raft up to the Pearl Lugger that’s moored at the footbridge right under the fireworks.
I get to work on the boat again wiring up 12v Engel and Cigarette sockets for the fridge and freezer ready for the EDEN fishing trip on the 9^th.
Mark gives me some secret fishing spots out the Entrance. Shhhhh!!!
Nanny loves sleeping with Jett
Leo and I have a massive day out on the boat together in 33-degree heat. I smasher into the jetty at the barrier landing! The factory bump strip can’t handle much so I decide to rip it off and install a proper bump strip as there will be more where that came from.
New years eve from Dock Tease and Pam the pearl lugger is one of the best YET. We love it. Back to the compound for a massive PARTY. JT and I wrap up at 4am! Absolutely loved it. Resolutions as follows. AT least I kept one of last years resolutions…. Keep a monthly journal. ENJOY LIFE…. ITS TO SHORT. (because I have so much fun I can’t remember all of it. Xxxx)

New year’s resolutions.

Dean

1. Back on the strict Dr Gundry diet = (NO WHITE FOOD, no beer and 3 days off a week!)

2. Date night with Tanya once a week.

3. Better natural sleep. No devices or booze 1.5 hours before bed and get down early.

4. Exercise 3 times a week.

5. No re-run movies or TV shows. NEW entertainment only with a preference for documentaries.

6. Keep the monthly journal going. I love reminiscing.
