Safety briefing and short drive for me just encase we have a captain over board incident then were off.
1st spot 30mtrs off the wharf called Jewfish1 where a 1.3mt jewie was caught 2 weeks ago!
No luck here so we move around. All were catching is baitfish. Good fighting but can’t eat them as they feed off the sewer outlets.
I’m starting to get worried this is going to be a flop. We go for a decent drive out to shark fin shaped rock in 30mtrs and BOOM. Jew fish and trevalley galore then I hook a 12 foot shark that bites straight through my size 4 hook after a 10minuet struggle. Pumped!
Captain Jett

Mindle Beach Market. Probably one of the best I’ve ever been too. Comming back Sunday to do it proper as the fish couldnt fit in the esky!
Now the massive task begins. I get through cleaning 12 of the biggest and give the rest away.
Wrecked!
Darwin Day 05 – Fri 24 Aug
One thing I learnt early on in the trip was the importance of chatting with other vanners. Most of them are retired and have done this trip many times before so there vast knowledge and experiance is invaluable.
We tell the couple next to us were headed for Howard springs and they tell us you can no longer swim there as its polluted and to head out a bit further to berry springs which is great swimming and picnic spot.
What a great tip.
After lunch we start swimming in a shallow pool with a waterfall you can walk through into a cave behind. Its kid safe , warm and beautiful.
There are 2 larger pools below. I piggy back leo and snorkel down to the top pool. We see heaps of large fish and it gets very deep.
After our swim we head back for a final fresh fish sunset dinner on the beach with nanny.
